Understanding their health plan
Your loved one may want you to be familiar with their health insurance plan and help make decisions about their healthcare. If you’re caring for an adult or your child who is 16 or older, you’ll need permission from them to be involved in their health insurance coverage.
Here are the steps your loved one can take if they choose.
Appoint you as a personal representative with BCBSRI.
Your loved one can designate you as a personal representative on their plan by completing a "Designee" form. This would allow you to talk with BCBSRI Customer Service on their behalf.
Your loved one can get a copy of the "Designee" form by contacting BCBSRI Customer Service.
Visit a Your Blue StoreSM location together.
If you are with your loved one at Your Blue Store, you don’t need to be an official personal representative to talk about their plan with the BCBSRI associate. Choose the store location that works best for you: Cranston, East Providence, Lincoln, Narragansett, or Warwick.
You don’t need an appointment at the store, so stop by when it works best for you.
