For the past two decades, in a variety of leadership roles, Michele has stewarded Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island’s mission as a trusted health insurer and community partner. Today, as executive vice president, chief administrative officer, chief legal officer, and secretary of the board of directors, Michele cultivates and fosters Blue Cross’s relationships with government, community, and business leaders, including ongoing collaboration on healthcare reform. Her wide-ranging areas of oversight include: legal services; government relations; corporate compliance and ethics; enterprise risk management; audit; human resources; and corporate social responsibility. Prior to joining the company in 1999, Michele worked as an attorney in private practice with a specialty in healthcare. She holds a J.D. from Boston University School of Law, an M.P.H. from Boston University School of Public Health and an A.B. with honors from Brown University.
Rhode Island Free Clinic
Michele serves as vice chair of the Free Clinic, which offers access to high quality healthcare free of charge to the most vulnerable Rhode Islanders.
Plan International USA
Michele serves on the board of Plan International USA, a girls’ rights organization with a mission to boldly create a more just and equitable world.
Rhode Island Public Expenditure Council
Michele is secretary of the board of directors of RIPEC, a nonpartisan and nonprofit public policy research organization that has been dedicated to advancing fiscally responsible government, competitive tax policies, and economic opportunities for all in Rhode Island for nearly nine decades.
Providence Foundation
Michele is a member of the board of directors of the Providence Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on creating a downtown environment conducive to growth and sustained investment.
