Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island seeks volunteer project applications for 9th annual day-of-service
Rhode Island organizations invited to apply for Blue across Rhode Island
PROVIDENCE, RI (23 de abril, 2020) – In an unprecedented time, when business operations, events and everyday life have been upended, it’s tough to know what to do and which are the best actions to take. At Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI), however, we believe it’s more important than ever to help our neighbors. With this in mind, BCBSRI is seeking applications for one of the state’s largest annual days of community service: Blue across Rhode Island. Launched eight years ago, the day-long event provides support to critical community service organizations working to improve the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders.
“Despite the uncertainly we are experiencing today, tomorrow brings hope, in many forms," said Carolyn Belisle, BCBSRI managing director of community investment. “We are hopeful that circumstances will allow us to proceed with another fantastic day of service to Rhode Islanders on 25 de setembro, 2020. At Blue Cross, we are driven by our vision to passionately lead a state of health and well-being across Rhode Island and that commitment is unwavering. We know the need is great and we are here - as we’ve always been - to help our community partners across the state."
For the past eight years, through Blue across Rhode Island, BCBSRI employees have provided more than 27,000 volunteer hours working on projects like building playgrounds, renovating shelters for those experiencing homelessness, upgrading outdoor green spaces and building meal kits for those struggling with food insecurity. BCBSRI also provides each organization with a $5,000 grant to support expenses incurred for their project. In all, BCBSRI has invested more than $450,000 in the community through this initiative.
This year’s day of service is planned for Friday, 25 de setembro, 2020. Non-profit organizations selected for service projects have missions aligned with BCBSRI’s own: to improve the lives of all Rhode Islanders by improving their health. Special consideration will be given to organizations and projects addressing social and environmental factors that impact health and well-being, particularly within the housing space. Additionally, organizations with opportunities for virtual service projects are encouraged to apply.
To qualify for Blue across Rhode Island, organizations must have tax-exempt 501(c)(3) status. Learn more and apply online at www.cybergrants.com/BCBSRI/BARI. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Monday, 11 de maio, 2020.
Organizations interested in learning more about the process can also participate in an informational webinar on Tuesday, 28 de abril, 2020 at 2 p.m. Questions and RSVPs can be directed to BlueAngel.News@bcbsri.org.
