In accordance with CMS rules, effective 1 de janeiro, 2020, BCBSRI will begin covering opioid treatment program services (OTP) for all Medicare members. Opioid use disorder treatment services are covered under Part B of original Medicare. Covered services include:
- FDA-approved opioid agonist and antagonist treatment medications and the dispensing and administration of such medications, if applicable
- Substance use counseling
- Individual and group therapy
- Toxicology testing
OTPs wishing to render services to BCBSRI Medicare Advantage members must be certified by CMS as an OTP. To learn more about CMS’s certification process, please click here.
If you are currently an in-network OTP with BCBSRI and have already obtained your CMS OTP certification, please complete a practitioner change form to begin the contracting process. Under “description of change" in section one, indicate that you are an in-network provider wishing to add OTP services for Medicare to your contract.
