The Place of Service (POS) 10 Telemedicine Payment Policy outlines BCBSRI’s implementation of a new POS code (10) for telemedicine effective 1 de abril, 2022 (both audio/visual and telephone only), as well as a change in description for the existing POS code 02 for telemedicine. The description of POS code 02 has been revised and a new POS code 10 has been created to meet the overall industry needs. BCBSRI will begin accepting POS 10 for claims adjudication on 1 de abril, 2022, and requires the accurate submission of POS 10 and 02 codes when telemedicine (both audio/visual and telephone only) are being rendered to BCBSRI members for claims submitted on or after 1 de abril, 2022.

Although POS 10 was effective 1 de janeiro, 2022, BCBSRI is requesting that providers continue to submit claims with POS 02 until 31 de março, 2022 to have time to update and configure our system to accept and adjudicate claims with POS 10 in a timely and accurate manner.
