What are Gap in Care (GIC) reports?
Each month, BCBSRI shares important quality care gap information in the GIC report with each member’s primary care provider. These reports can help you easily identify members who may be on your schedule for a particular day who have open care gaps such as breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, as well as several other important screenings for members with diabetes, osteoporosis, or a recent hospitalization.
How should my practice use the GIC reports?
To help your practice maximize potential PCP Quality Incentive Program (PQIP) earnings, we recommend incorporating a review of these monthly GIC reports into your practice’s workflows. When a member is identified as having one or more open care gaps, you can place a reminder in their chart to address the quality care gap during their next visit. If the member is not due for a visit soon, you may want to remind them by phone, mail, or your patient portal if you use one.
I’m having trouble opening BCBSRI’s secure emails or reading the GIC reports – who should I reach out to?
